Barnard 72 (R.F. Joyce Observatory; 26-07-2017)

"The Snake Nebula" is a 5-light-year-wide winding cloud of dust that blocks the light from the star field behind it. It sits in Ophiuchus, at a distance of ~650 ly - so, just around the corner, really. Photo stuff: 40 frames @ 180s ea.; ISO 800; Canon 60Da on RCX400 16" f/8 with a .70 focal reducer.
