The practical talk this night will be "Astrophotography - a Beginner's Journey", by Gary Steel. If I can persuade Grant Powell to accompany me, there will also be a short introduction to astrophotography without a telescope (e.g., wide shots, aurora).

Wow, that's setting the bar a bit high, even for me ;)

If there is sufficient interest, I'll be happy to do a short introduction to astrophotography without a telescope (you will need a camera) :)
If you have a camera and a tripod, then this session will be for you. We'll be looking at how to photograph the milky way and/or aurora, and what settings to use.
If you intend on coming, bring your gear and if the weather is nice, we can play afterwards.
Please use the RSVP above, so that we can judge numbers.

Yeah, I thought I would set you a challenge. Sigh. ..I meant without a telescope, of course. That's what I get for creating posts after midnight. The description has been amended.

Thanks. By the way, there is a method for capturing astro-images without a camera...It's called "drawing"... :)
