Junes Monthly Meeting will be a talk by the NASA crew from SOFIA regarding their activities here in Christchurch for 2016

The CAS monthly meeting is held at 7:30pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month (except December and January), in room 275 of the Von Haast building of the University of Canterbury School of Biological Sciences. Any member of the public who is considering joining the Society or who has an interest in the subject being discussed is welcome to attend the meeting.

Meetings will begin at 8:00 p.m. sharp. The meeting will be preceded by a tea-and-biscuits session from 7:30pm.

We hope that this change will help keep the meetings short, while still allow time to chat.

You may want to show up to tomorrow’s members’ meeting a bit early. The University of Canterbury has kindly given us access for a private viewing of the display of the reconstruction of the Teece Townsend Telescope. If you would like to join us for this viewing, please show up at the main entrance of the Registry Building (opposite the James Hight (main) library), just before 19:00.

Coincidentally enough, the Registry Building’s name is Matariki.

We will aim to start our regular meeting activities around 19:30, although we could push that back just a bit if need be.
    Regards,
    Gary Steel

There has been a last minute change in plan with regards to the content of the talk. We are now delighted to be able to host an impromptu talk from the SOFIA team, with regards to their activities here in Christchurch for 2016. More from @Gary Steel as he gets it.

Please use the RSVP system so that we can get an idea of numbers.
