I'm aiming at pouring concrete for the pad this Saturday. I will book 3.3 cubic meters of concrete for Saturday (13.05.2017) morning about 9-10 am.

I'm after some able bodied people to help poring the slab. At a minimum I need about six people. Now everybody may work at the same time, but it's better to have more than required rather than fewer.

It's expected to take about 3 hours. Please RSVP if you are able to help.

I'm trying to arrange a return flight to Dunedin for Friday (RASNZ affiliates meeting) so I should be back in time for the Great Pouring. I've put in a "maybe", just in case I'm delayed. I'll bring along my weak-kneed wheelbarrow, as well.

Well I am also weak kneed, and being short of stature and totally useless at helping with concrete pouring etc. but if you like I can come out again and clean kitchen and toilets, and perhaps bring out some pikelits to help keep your strength up while you are all getting stoned with wet cement.
Can add spinach to the pikelits for the weak kneed.

Hey, Karen, always glad to have whatever help comes our way! That was a brilliant tidy-up you did last time. As for spinach in pikelets, I'll leave that up to the rest of the crew. I'm more sweet than savoury, myself (although you might get some arguments from my students about that...)

Hi Gary, I will be there if it is not raining as I assume it has to be dry for concrete pouring.I also received an email from Zoho email Team, that included an attachment. It invited me to join a Cas email group. I did not open it or the attachment as I assume this is scam/spam. Has anyone else received this? I did post this info on the forum as well, but not sure if I did it correctly as I am still finding my way around the different Cas sites, and I am not too computer savvy, so have put it here in case I didn't post it correctly. But I'll keep trying and using the help page as I know that this is not the page to post this message. Phew!!!

Yes, I saw the conversation you started re: possible spam/scam. I copied Grant in, as he is the website administrator. We'll see what he has to say.

Simply put, with only one maybe for this Saturday I'm not going to order half a truck of concrete. If no additional volunteers for Saturday, I'll postpone.

Anyone else able to give us a hand?

Hi Andrei, please let me know if you are not going out Saturday as I was going to do the kitchen and toilets again. I think the weather forecast is not too good for Saturday, could be damp if not actually raining.

Saturday will be fine, but unless I see a sudden surge of volunteers is unlikely I will be there. I'll announce here tomorrow if it's a go. Thank you for offering to help.

I have RSVP'd but there's a slight chance that I may need to work (though unlikely). Otherwise my hands are yours :)

Hey, I wish I was able to this weekend but I have organized a landscaping working bee at my house with some friends. Hope the rain stays away for you.

Just a reminder to those who are watching this thread: we are going ahead so, even if you haven't RSVP'd, you're still very welcome to join us if you find you have some time. It's always nice to see a "second shift" arrive a bit later in the morning.

Hi All, Everyone was working hard at the concrete pouring working bee, hope it's okay to put this pic on this page, took a few more, not sure whether the gallery or forum is the right place for pictures.

Forums would be the place for the non astro photos. Looks like everyone had a great time. Thanks for taking a few photos @Karen and thanks to the volunteers for all the help.

My thanks to everyone who came out to help with the pour on Saturday morning (and Karen for the tidying and *very* welcome snacks!). We now have a very thick, circular (mostly :) slab on which to put up our new dome. We even had some leftover concrete so we put a small 'porch' in front of the toilet block, and extended/rounded the step in front of the 16". All in all, a very good day's work. Cheers, folks!

...and a photo of the new dome floor. It's not yet had its finishing touches but it looks solid enough.
