Hi,
Is anyone able to give me a better idea of what is happening for this weekend. Mostly around accomodation and food etc. I gather there are bunk rooms, but I haven’t slept in one of those since I was 11 on a school camp to Eltham. I can’t do the tent thing as my knees are buggered. Not hot on the camp food eating thing either. My Brownie Owl would be most disappointed. Thanks Trace

There’s plenty of bunk rooms. Not 5 star, but quite reasonable beds with mattresses. No need to use a top bunk. Bring a pillow and bedding/sleeping bag. There’s also a good shower block. Many people tent or use a caravan so bunk space is usually not at a premium.
There’s a good kitchen for breakfast, lunch and Friday dinner. Saturday is pot luck dinner, Surnames L to Z bring desert. Frozen deserts or other ready made supermarket deserts are fine. If you need to prepare anything for dinner on-site, do it earlier in the day, otherwise just let Jan know where it is. Bring food for breakfast and lunch. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided. They have microwaves, ovens, stoves, toasters, pots, plates, cups, cutlery, fridges, a big pantry for storage. There’s a big hall with tables etc. Fairly civilised really 🙂 There’s also a cafe just down the road in Staverley township – good for Saturday lunch, or an afternoon icecream 🙂

Aside: Just watched the documentary on the Moon on TVNZ Ondemand. A good part of it dedicated to the eclipse across the US in 2017. Not sure if you’ve found that. T
The documentary is called ‘Wonders of the Moon’. There is also one called ‘Death Dive to Saturn’, about . No end date appears for either documentary. The Professor Brian Cox documentary ’21st Century Race for Space’ ends in 14 days.
Maybe we should put this sort of information on a separate topic either FB or here???? To me it appears we are going through an information explosion at the moment and getting hard to keep up :).
