    Hey folks

short update to keep you informed of plans for Level 1.

The planned decision point for a move to Level 1 is next Monday. Until that is confirmed the restrictions remain in force at the observatory – so please continue to observe those till then. A huge thanks to everyone for your support over the past months.

    What happens at Level 1??

    • Restrictions on observatory use will be removed at Level 1 – BUT –  we need members to be actively thinking about hygiene particularly where sharing equipment. Terry has posted some information in the lodge – we all need to be diligent about filling the logbook out when visiting the obs. Please ensure you respect the directions Terry has posted and strictly observe hygiene requirements.  We will do our best to ensure everyone’s safe but it is a public place so members need to manage their own safety and respect others too.
    • Open Nights – we have a small group of volunteers already to assist – we have published our Friday nights to Eventbrite and re-opened the bookings today – First planned night is 12 June – yes that soon!   But that is totally dependent on a move to Level 1 next week – if that’s delayed then we delay opening until we get clearance from the government. Attendance numbers will be limited to 60 to allow some space in the lodge and we will have some processes in place regards hygiene, briefings to visitors around that and controls of numbers around scopes during the evenings. We will post more closer to the date.
    • Members Nights at UC – These remain cancelled for now as we do not have access to UC as of yet and may well not do till July – Committee will discuss plans/actions round that next week. More info will be included in CASMAG once we know what UC might allow and when.
    • Members Nights at CAS – The first of these will be June 20th and will be running as normal. More closer to the date – but please put that in your diary.
    • Mid Winter BBQ – Will become more of a late winter BBQ – We plan to run our fabulous BBQ night on Sat 22 Aug (members night) – Terry’s itching to launch his bonfire so we can’t deny him any longer… poor chap’s got itchy matches!!!!  – more details closer to the date around catering etc.

I am sure you’re all as pleased as we are to be close to re-opening. Here’s hoping that the weather complies!

We have 16 Friday nights till daylight savings kicks in so we could well have a pretty good season if the cold weather kicks in, which it looks like is upon us in the next days.

More soon as we close into the first nights and dates above.

    Cheers

    Simon
