AnonymousInactiveHi,
I’m getting my first dslr tomorrow for astrophotography and I was wondering if I could get any advice on accessories and where to get them, preferably on the cheaper side of things. I was thinking of a T ring and adapter for my telescope as well as a light pollution filter.
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers

Simon LewisKeymasterHi Josh
what scope are you going to hang it off??
Depending on that depends where you can get them – AstroNZ might – Bintel in AU – but I get most of my stuff from High Point Scientific or OPT in the USA
I do have an LPR spare if you want to buy it .. I don’t need it from home
drop some more info and I will see what I can do to help
Cheers

AnonymousInactiveI have a Nova, 114mm reflector I believe on a German Equatorial. But I would also love to use the scopes at the observatory is well if one product can do both.
Could definitely be interested in the LPR if it fits in my current budget

Camera Adapter – T2 & Projection to 1.25"Would I be right in assuming these two will be what I need to attach the Camera to the scope? I am getting a Canon EOS and the eye piece on the scope is 1.25 inches

Simon LewisKeymasterdoes the focuser have a 2″ drawtube or is it only supporting 1.25″ extras??
you may struggle with vignetting as its quite a small aperture on the eye piece as its quite narrow
the other thing is that the length of that tube could well give you issues with focusing as the backfocus on that newtonian may be limited
can you bring it down to CAS one night n we can have a look
cheers

AnonymousInactiveI suppose landscape astrophotography just doesn’t cut it with a serious lens, galaxies and planets, :), but I am once again doing an astrophotography course with Rob Dickinson. He is running two this winter with Hero Workshops. See link.

AnonymousInactiveI would love to go if I had the money Tracey!
Does anyone know if this is a decent filter? I’ve checked to make sure my camera is APS-C

Simon LewisKeymasterthe optlong filters get an ok report from what I read Josh
there is a whole bunch of similar filters appearing – good ones would be Astronomiks
