Rob GlasseyModeratorNo, it’s not an April fools joke, all going well we are planning to host a small group from Lincoln High School.
This is the last Friday before daylight saving ends, so we’ll be starting a bit later, at 8pm.
With covid and all, we will be doing this a little differently:
- The group is small, about 20 senior students, with a keen interest in science and astronomy.
- It will be held in the open air, with masks.
- We will not be using the enclosed domes or having a presentation in the lodge.
- Instead we’ll do an introducton talk outside, then observe with the 16″, 11″ (roll off roofs) and dobs.
- The lodge will be open to warm up in if required, but not for large gatherings. (limit of 4 people)
- Hand sanitiser is available.
- We only need about 4 volunteers
No-one should feel obliged to volunteer. If you feel that you, or those you interact with, may be at an unacceptable risk, or you are not well, please don’t come along. Cancellations at the last minute are fine!
This is something of a trial run for this season. Experiance from this evening may help guide open nights in future, now that we are living with covid.
Who’s keen?

Rob GlasseyModeratorPostponed due to weather.
Since we are not holding a public night next Friday, we will be hosting this small group instead.
Note: Change of time (no longer daylight saving)
7:30pm, Friday 8th April 2022
We new at least another two volunteers. Please consider helping out if you feel comfortable doing so.
Thanks!

Rob GlasseyModeratorWe’re still on for the first night of 2022!
There might be a few clouds, but hopefully we will still have plenty to show.
We start at 7:30. If we can get there around 6:30 that would be awesome!
I’ll update tomorrow (Friday) if things change.
Thanks!

Rob GlasseyModeratorWe are GO for tonight!
There will be about 17 senior students plus teachers.
The forecast cloud doe not look like it will be a significant issue until 10pm or later.
We may be picking objects in clear areas of the sky. I’ll make up a list of objects, with catalog numbers, for differnt parts of the sky to make it easier to work around any cloud.
If you can be there at 6:30pm that would be great! we have a bit of first time setup tonight, but at least we dont need the lodge tonight, and we will only be using the 16, 11 and a dob.
So far we have me, Carol, Shaun, and Preetha “confirmed”. An extra hand or two would be most welcome.
Let’s have fun!
Rob
