We are GO tonight!
This is the backup from yesterday, so the kids get a chance to see the moon.
Being a Thursday, some regulars may not be able to make it tonight, so if you’re thinking of coming out, please do!
Normal start at 7:30pm. Setup from 6:30.
This group may not be as well coordinated as some others. We will need to collect cash for each family group as they come in. There will be many pre-school kids, which are free. Otherwise I’m sure the group will be great!
The moon and Saturn will be the highlights for sure. I’ll bring my 70mm refractor on a tracking mount which will put the eyepiece at kid height for viewing the moon.
Saturn will be only 4 degrees away from the moon tonight. A nice conjunction.
Other targets could be alpha cen, omega cen, jewel box, M6 and M7, and the “false comet”, NGC6231, a bright open cluster at the top of the tail of the scorpion.
