Hello all!

We will have a meteorite hunt for the meteorite that fell on March 13th in the Tekapo region (see the attached document)!

The stone is probably about 0.5 kg but should stand out in the region that is otherwise greywacke rock. The leaders of this search have done a reconnaissance visit and are now ready for a proper search involving the public.

The search will be this Thursday (21st March 2024). People that would like to participate should:

Be in Tekapo at 8 am, ready for an 8.15 departure to the strewn-field. It will be a day out adventure.
The point of meeting is in the carpark by the public toilets behind Tekapo Restaurant and Bar on Motuariki Ln.
Bring hat, sunglasses, sun cream, plenty of water, lunch, study footwear as well as plastic bags and toilet paper (just in case we cannot get a port-a-loo) etc.
GPS, compass, pen and paper, if possible.
I would appreciate it if you would contact mes at fireballsaotearoa@gmail.com if you are interested in participating, so that we can keep a record of people.

Kind regards,

James
