    Hi All,

It looks like the skies have just cleared and are looking to stay that way – I’m hoping to get a little closer to getting accredited on a scope (please) – would anyone accredited and can assist in accreditation on the skywatcher eq6 setup please contact me so that I can chalk this one off finally 🙂

I’d be looking to head over around 9pm…

    Cheers,

    -marc

I can’t help you there Marc but I too have recently bought a Skywatchers EQ6-R mount. It’s my first eq mount and I am really struggling to get Polar alignment!

I am currently using my 8” SCT on the mount.

I would really appreciate some help one weekend night soon.. can’t get out there weeknights unfortunately.

Please can someone let me know if they are able to give me a tutorial.. I’m even happy to come to you if needs be!

    Much appreciated and clear skies

I was in the same situation as you Daniel. Except with an HEQ5 Pro. There is a software called sharpcap pro. I think it’s around $20 and it has a polar alignment feature in it which is amazing. Couldn’t live without it! I’ll be happy to help you set it up next time I’m at the observatory

Thanks Josh. I would appreciate it. I can get rough alignment but then i’m having trouble with 2 or 3 star alignment also so a quick run through from anyone that can help would be very appreciated. assuming clear skies, and the forecast looks reasonably good, is anyone going out on Saturday?

    Thanks heaps

It might be a good idea to have some sort of agenda for accreditation, like an actual scheduled event where some can get the accreditation? I would love to as well, but as there is no really good way it takes a long time, which Marc is also experiencing.

Unfortunately accreditation is not a 1 session job. You are required to be competent (usually easy to achieve) but also experienced which happens over many sessions until a couple of accredited committee members are happy. This is not a finite time and depends on the person and frequency of use. Things are better than they were with many like yourselves interested enough to put the time into it. I myself wish to be at the observatory as often as weather allows in order to help achieve this.

Are you going to come tonight Terry? Marc has shown interest and Vincent is always keen. I’ll be there and Simon likely as well

Agreed Terry, it’s about experience ofcourse and I’m more than happy to get it as it’s awesome anyway. 🙂 But it would be nice if people had a bit better way to know when the right people are at the observatory to watch and teach and for those that teach, to know a bit about how many times they’ve seen a person learn. Which is why I thought about some sort of online agenda.
