Huge thanks to AstroNZ who have donated an I-optron Sky Tracker Pro to CAS as part of their sponsorship of the 2018 RASNZ conference which CAS has just hosted.

That’s the whole package, including a heavy duty tripod and ball head. Take a look at the video on that page to see how it works.
Naturally we have already tried it out 🙂 I had no star trails in a 4 1/2 minute exposure with the stock canon lens at 55m focal length. Nice! Andrei also got good result with a 300mm telephoto lens.
So we encourage you to attach your camera, or one of ours, and have a go! Contact Terry (observatory director) to book the gear, or come along on a members night and we’ll get it out.
