Simon LewisKeymasterthanks to Terry for the hard work to get this working and to the Kershaw Family for the generous donation to provide the hardware.
You can find the latest image on the main CAS page – its static and will refresh as you update the cas.org page.
Click the camera image and it will launch another window with the live view full size image and the camera controls on the left hand side.
You can also find a link to the camera under the CAS Resources tab on the main site menu.
Cheers
Simon

Terry RichardsonModeratorI am unhappy with dark subtraction. In poor light and high gain there is a lot of noise. This was especially last night when we had fog and almost total darkness. I will do another dark subtraction tonight or tomorrow night. Cam may be down for a few minutes while this is happening.

Dale KershawModeratorMany thanks to Terry for building this camera and the setting up etc,

Terry RichardsonModeratorI have done some adjustments and removed temporary mounting and have installed the permenant mount.
Dark subtraction is great for stars, but you will see black dots against the clouds at night where pixels have been subtracted, At least these pixels will not be confused as stars now. On starry nights you will not see these dots against the black sky.
Camera is now correctly orientated. You will see from the stars that West is left, East is right, North is down and South is at top. This is as you see the stars looking up.
Now identified as Graeme Kershaw sky camera,
Not sure if I can fix the overlay. This is a work in progress. Will require some programming I think (from looking at the code). Maybe a programmer smarter than me can help?
Enjoy

Terry RichardsonModeratorI am still playing with settings for the camera. I did a reset this morning.
If there are any problems I will not be able to fix it as I am away till Tuesday.
Please bear with me as this is getting sorted.

Terry RichardsonModeratorFurther update.
I spent weekend in Auckland and was able to set the overlay for our position.
I had to wait till I got home to orientate the camera to the overlay. This is now set so North is up and West is on the right.
It is now orientated as though you are looking south from the lodge.
The compas points are marked on the overlay.

Karen WillsParticipantWow, just looked at sky camera pic today. It’s true, the moon is made of green cheese.
