Hello All
We hope you are all doing okay in these trying and strange times. And finding things to keep yourselves occupied.
For myself I tried and was successful in making Home Made Liquid soap. I also made some Fabric face masks and while not medical grade they offer some protection
Remember to keep in contact with your Loved ones, Family, Friends and Cas Friends by using phone, text, email and if you use it, facebook.
While the last few nights here in Christchurch have been cloudy, lets hope some clear nights are coming and we can get out into our back yards with our Telescopes, Bino’s, Camera’s and of course naked eye viewing,
I will still be publishing CASMAG, as normal and would love some items from you to include,
A reminder that No CAS activities will be happening while the country is at Level 4 for COVID-19.
All your new committee contacts has been updated on our website,
Remember to change your clocks back 1 hour tonight for the end of daylight saving at 3am Sunday morning.

Terry RichardsonModeratorThanks Dale,
It is nice to keep contact in these times.
We are a community of like minded people, and we can support each other in various ways.
If anybody is having difficulties, I am sure there is someone with the expertise to help.
Similarly if anybody knows someone who needs help, then let us know.
In the meantime with darkness wasting finished there is lots of opportunity to dust off the personal gear and do some backyard astronomy.
I am currently doing a project that started 6 months ago as a box of parts. I am building a radio telescope to pick up activity of the sun, and Jupiter. Watch this space to see if it works.
Keep safe everyone
Cheers
Terry

Terry RichardsonModeratorHi All
My Lockdown has been fruitful.
I have built a radio receiver that picks up transmissions from Jupiter (and the sun). This is a rudimentry kind of radio-telescope.
This is built from a kit handed to me by Simon last year but the build has sat on the back burner until now.
I have it running at home for testing. So far have only identified transmissions from the sun but it seems to be working.
