Erik VermaatParticipantWe offer a sequence of four theory courses in astronomy and cosmology this year in the Oxford Observatory. This sequence covers the alpha and omega of these sciences at 101 level. We discuss our Solar System and the accelerating Universe and everything in between.
The first course starts on 16 February. These courses (all on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 pm) are for all ages and backgrounds, but if you are seriously interested in any of this, expect to be challenged.
Find all details on our website under the Courses this year menu.
Hope to see some of you there (also to inspect our brand-new 12 inch Meade telescope!)

Claire BryantParticipantHi Erik, I’m interested in the theory courses starting on 16 February. I’m new to CAS and couldn’t find a link to the website to register. Can you point me to the right link?
thanks, Claire

Erik VermaatParticipantHello Claire,
Thanks for responding. This forum doesn’t very clearly identify hyperlinks in the text. The link is embedded in the text “our website”.
So the address is https://oxford.ngawhetu.nz/
I hope this helps.

Mark JozkoParticipantHi Erik, another new member keen to learn here. I notice that the course clashes with the monthly meeting at the University. As this will be the first event I attend would it be more advisable for me to attend one over the other??
Thanks, Mark

Erik VermaatParticipantHello Mark,
That is really not for me to judge! Life is full of choices and often these should be based on priorities (wow, I am getting philosophical :-)).
If 16 March is also a CAS member night there will be two clashes with our first course, out of seven course nights. If you are interested in our courses it might be an idea to not skip the first course night as there will be a lot of introduction happening.
But it really is your call. Maybe also find out what is going to happen at the CAS nights?
Cheers,
Erik

Erik VermaatParticipantOne week today the first course will start. Few places left. I can’t wait!
