Rob GlasseyModeratorWe’re having a special members night Saturday 19th December to observe the rare close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn!
9:30-10:30pm
It’s a pretty narrow time frame. They set soon after the sky gets dark enough to see them.
Jupiter and Saturn will be just over 1/4 of a degree apart, so we will be able to see both, and their moons, in the same medium power eyepeice.
They get even closer on the 21st, but it looks like the weather is not good from Sunday on.
There is some cloud forecast for Saturday, but there’s a reasonable chance it will be clear enough to see them. It’s probably the last chance.
See you there!

Paul MckeeParticipantThe weather is looking promising at the moment. Is anyone going out to the observatory this evening, cloud permitting?

Paul MckeeParticipantGreat. If it’s still sunny at 8.30, I’ll head out there too but it’s getting a bit hazy in the west now.
