Looking for a telescope I can attach to my HEQ5 for planetary season coming up. Pretty indifferent on specifics, so if you have an old SCT/Newt/Whatever lying around let me know. I am trying to do this for as cheap as possible, so a Dobsonian is what I’m ideally looking for.

    I have a 150mm refractor you can borrow – from memory it’s about a 1200mm f/l

Thanks for the generous offer Marc. I’m going to have to pass, since I’m going to be moving between wellington/chch. I also have a 150mm dob, which I may end up modifying to fit on my HEQ5.

    Hi Chester,

    I’ve got a 6″ f/5 Newtonian amoungst Malcolm’s telescopes. OTA only.

The focuser is not much good, (helical 0.96″) but the mirrors and tube are good.

    How does $50 sound?

Does it have tube rings? Cant quite make it out on the picture

The tube has a bar with mounting bolts.

However, I do have a spare pair of 6″ rings that would probably fit.

How much for both the rings/scope in that case? Interested in mounting it on an HEQ5, I already have a dovetail

I just tried the rings. Nice rings. They will fit with about 3mm padding right around.

    Say $70 rings and OTA.
