This week we have a large group – Gordon Cubs and Scouts. About 70 people total, 40 cubs and parents, 30 scouts and parents.

    The forecast is looking promising!

    7:00 pm start!

To cope with the age range and large numbers we’re planning to run the two groups separately, with cubs starting at 7pm and scouts starting later.

Since we have split the groups there will be more people required for check-in, ushering, and intros, but 5 scopes should be fine.

The rough itinerary for the night:

    6:50pm: Cubs arrival and check-in
7:00pm: Cubs gather in *front* of lodge for short orientation and safety talk combined with sky tour
    7:15pm: Viewing through the telescopes
7:35pm: Scouts arrive and check in. Proceed to lodge
7:45pm: Safety and orientation briefing for Scouts in the lodge
8:00pm: Cubs finish viewing. (some families may stay later)
8:00pm: Scouts outside for sky tour
8:10pm: Scouts moves to telescopes for viewing
    9:00pm: Scouts finish viewing.

We may start a bit before 7 if the cubs and us are ready to go a few minutes earlier.

It will be a busy night!

    Should be fun!

    We are GO!

I’m expecting a little light, high cloud tonight, but nothing to cause too much trouble. Thickening after midnight.

Saturn and the moon will be visible, and Venus will be visible early.

    Lets go!
