CAS is well underway with the planning for our winter program and what a winter its going to be!

Our public nights kick off on 12 April and run through till September. This year we are going to open every Friday night and hope we can deal with the weather as we go. We will open at 7.30pm as normal and the CAS site and Facebook will be updated regularly on observatory operations to keep everyone informed as to the status of that nights viewing. Booking as normal are via Eventbrite and the Eventbrite booking page is now open and ready to take your reservations.

If you’re interested in a group booking for a social, school or work club or Scouts and Guides, please contact us directly to arrange this. We can organise private viewings for larger parties.

Of course CAS would never miss Kidsfest! We will be open every night during Kidsfest and we will open our booking system for that closer to the date. We will have an exciting program of events for the kids and not so small kids too!

This is an extra special year for CAS as it’s the International Astronomical Union’s 100th birthday, so come and participate in the birthday celebrations. NASA’s also celebrates the 50th anniversary of landing man on the moon with its Apollo 50 celebrations this year. Maybe you can spot the craters where man first set foot on the lunar surface?

So get ready for blast off as we have some great things to keep you entertained and informed this year.
